Central Italy Earthquake Relief Fund

A quick update on the Central Italy Earthquake Relief Fund (CIERF). On Saturday November 12 Remo Ferri had an exclusive VIP fundraising event with the proceeds going to CIERF . The guest of honour was Sergio Marchionne, CEO Chrysler / Fiat. As you can see from the picture $375,000 was raised but someone wanted it rounded up and added a $25,000 donation just before the presentation. It was quite an event with $400,000 raised for CIERF. With existing donations and pledges CIERF has raised around $550,000. There is a major lunch event planned in late January and Sergio will also be the key note speaker. Thanks.

The National Federation CIBPA and our Chapters offer our thoughts, prayers and sympathy to all of those affected by the devastating earthquake in Central Italy.
Along with other Italian Canadian organizations, we have established the Central Italy Earthquake Relief Fund (CIERF), an initiative to support the people and communities affected by the earthquake. CIERF is a registered charity and is reaching out to all Canadians to contribute to a legacy that will help devastated communities in Umbria, Lazio and Marche. All donations are tax deductible.
Similar relief efforts by Italian Canadian community members were made following the devastating earthquakes in Friuli (1976), Campania and Basilicata (1980), Sicily (1990), Molise (2002) and Abruzzo (2009).
How to Donate
Funds can be donated through any branch of IC Savings (Italian Canadian Savings and Credit Union) in Toronto or online. For more information or if you would like to donate please visit the CIERF website at www.centralitalyearthquakerelieffund.com. Arrangements are being made for donations through major Canadian financial institutions.
CIERF is asking the federal and provincial governments to match the funds provided by private donors. We also encourage individuals and associations to organize their own fundraising events in support of this initiative.
About the Central Italy Earthquake Relief Fund
CIERF is a registered charity established to provide support for the people and communities affected by the massive earthquake in central Italy on Aug. 24, 2016 and include: CIBPA Chapters: the Villa Charities family of organizations; Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario; National Congress of Italian-Canadians, Toronto; Italian Canadian Savings and Credit Union, Sons of Italy; other members and leaders from the Italian community and friends of Central Italy.
